Aaura goes out of business

SEPTEMBER 29, 2006 - Chicago -- Gold jewelry firm Aaura Inc. closed its doors on Thursday, after 23 years in the business.

"We want to thank our very loyal customers and wish them the best success in the future," the company said in a statement on its Web site, www.aaura.com. "We also have a tremendous appreciation for our wonderful suppliers for their vision. We would also like to thank our employees��current and past��the unique collective spirit of the staff set it apart and made it so distinct."

Court records show that the company filed for bankruptcy in February.

The company said it might organize a property sale in late October to get rid of plant property and equipment, including safes, scales, computers, showcases, tools and supplies.

Aaura's business office will remain open for a short time to collect outstanding account balances and receive memo goods. After collection on the majority of accounts, the Jewelers Board of Trade will manage the balance
