In order to introduce its WFDB Mark to a broader international audience, the World Federation of Diamond Bourses (WFDB) announced it will have an information booth at the Hong Kong Jewellery and Watch Fair.
The show kicks off today and goes through Sat., Sept. 23. The booth, provided by show organizer CMP Asia, will be located in Hall 5 of AsiaWorld Expo, the new exhibition center located next to Hong Kong International Airport.
"This is the very first time that the WFDB has an opportunity to present its WFDB Mark program to the wider jewelry trade," said WFDB president Ernest Blom, in a media release. "The location of the booth at a stand-alone location close to the entrance of the hall, will allow us to hand out information, and most importantly, explain to people what the WFDB and the WFDB Mark are all about."
The mark is a trademarked logo that approved members of WFDB's diamond exchanges will be able to display to show clients and suppliers that they follow the World Federation Code of Principles. The code is a set of ethical business practices, based on resolutions passed by the WFDB in 1992, relating to the various ethical challenges that confront the diamond and jewelry trade.
"Through its adoption of the WFDB Mark program, the WFDB is investing serious efforts in informing the players in the downstream market¡ªwholesalers, jewelry manufacturers, retailers, and ultimately the consumer¡ªof our commitment to consumer confidence in diamond jewelry products," Blom said.
"By exhibiting at the world's major jewelry trade fairs," he continued, "we hope to familiarize the WFDB's own membership and other industry members with the program, thus emphasizing our industry's social and corporate responsibility and our adherence to the strictest of business practices."
