VNU to combine Couture and Signature Salons shows

SEPTEMBER 12, 2006 - New York -- The high-end Couture Jewellery Collection & Conference and Signature Salons shows will be combined into a single six-day event, running from Wednesday, May 30, to Monday, June 4, at the Wynn Las Vegas, announced the shows' producer, the VNU Jewelry Group.

The goal is to maintain the show as a destination for upscale, designer jewelry-focused retailers while expanding the buyer base, the company says. Attendance will be open to all qualified retailers, and Couture will honor badges from the shows in the adjacent Sands Expo venue.

A specified group of retailers who have supported the Couture Collection over the years will be designated "Cornerstone Retailers" and will enjoy special activities and accommodations at the Wynn.

VNU Jewelry Group Vice President Lee Arevian explains that the decision was based on extensive discussion with the shows' exhibitors and retailers.

"It is our goal to continually listen to the members of the Couture community, both exhibitors and retailers alike, and present a show that addresses the goals of both groups," Arevian says. "This revised Couture show model for 2007 will allow us to continue our success at Wynn during the important buying week while maintaining the standards of excellence that all have come to enjoy, expect and benefit from at Couture."

Among Couture's unique features that will remain are its intimacy, glamour and status of cachet and exclusivity as the definitive event for experiencing the newest collections of the finest international jewelry designers, VNU says.

The new event will retain the Couture name with the Signatures Salons name being re-branded as a show highlight.
