Nordstrom to open new stores

Seattle��Nordstrom Inc. announced it has signed with General Growth Properties Inc. to open three new Nordstrom stores in Ohio, Missouri and Delaware.

The fashion specialty retailer will also relocate its store at Fashion Place in Murray, Utah, and the Nordstrom in Montclair, Calif. will undergo a renovation. The three new stores will be located in Christiana Mall in Newark, Del., Saint Louis Galleria in St. Louis and in the Kenwood Towne Centre in Cincinnati.

"We are fortunate to find desirable locations across the United States," said Erik Nordstrom, president of stores, in a statement. "There is still much opportunity to increase our presence around the country where our customers live and shop. General Growth is a quality partner who has done a great job at presenting us with some compelling projects and we are thrilled to join these new centers."

General Growth CEO John Bucksbaum said the project is a great opportunity for the companies, which complement each other.

"In addition to the three new stores, the relocation at Fashion Place and the renovation of the Nordstrom store at Montclair Plaza demonstrate long-term commitment to these centers and the markets in which they're located," he said.

The Kenwood Towne Centre store in Cincinnati is set to open in the fall of 2009, the St. Louis store in spring 2010 and the Delaware store in spring 2011.

The relocated store in Utah will open in spring 2009, while the renovation of the Montclair, Calif., store will begin next year.
