Helzberg's 'Sparkle' sale to benefit children's charities

Kansas City, Mo.��Fine-jewelry retailer Helzberg Diamonds has launched the sale of its "Sparkle the Bear" plush toy to benefit children who are the victims of catastrophic illness or life-threatening abuse and neglect.

Sparkle the Bear dons a sparkling red sweater with a coordinating messenger bag, and is available for $9.99 at Helzberg Diamonds stores nationwide and at the retailer's Web site, .

All profits from Sparkle the Bear sales will be donated to Jewelers for Children, which supports four child-focused charities: the National CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) Association, the Make-A-Wish Foundation of America, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and The Elizabeth Glacier Pediatric AIDS Foundation.

Last year, Helzberg Diamonds contributed a total of $137,000 to Jewelers for Children. Recently, Jewelers for Children named Helzberg Diamonds Chairman and CEO Marvin Beasley as the 2007 Facets of Hope honoree. With the honor, Beasley will be responsible for leading industry fund-raising efforts to help Jewelers for Children-supported charities.

"Because of our company's ongoing commitment to helping children in need, we will approach this great responsibility with enthusiasm," Beasley said in a statement.
